Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice is focused on a variety of aspects of family matters. She focuses the majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property distribution child custody battles, child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues as well as step-parent and private party adoptions and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as trusts, wills, probate, and estate administration, in addition to commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private cases as well as court-appointed mediations for people who want to avoid the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This was a sign of her dedication to scholarship and research in the field of law.
Ashley began her clerkship journey after completing her law degree. She worked for renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown, Maryland, to serve as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main focus at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Ashley's dedication to her work contributed greatly to helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the of their caregivers or parents. Her commitment to social justice spanned beyond the realm of law and she was active as an executive member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force and worked tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tristate area.
In 2017 she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her expertise in family law including divorce, custody and child maintenance, as well as guardianships – as well as financial and estate planning - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.
Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a the goal of providing an individual approach to each client's needs.
