THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family issues. She concentrates the majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes the distribution of marital property and child custody battles. child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues including step-parent and private parties adoptions as well as concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since 2019, assisting parties in helping to resolve their issues without need for litigation and court involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes as well as court-appointed mediation for individuals who want to avoid court proceedings and litigation.

After finishing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. After graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, placing among the top 10 students in her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal research and scholarship.

Ashley began her clerkship career after she completed her law degree. She worked for renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the honor of being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities at the firm involved representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Ashley's tireless efforts played a significant role in helping children who suffered neglect or abuse at of their caregivers or parents. Her commitment to social justice went beyond her legal practice as she actively served as an executive member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, working diligently to educate the public about human trafficking within the tri-state area.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law such as divorce child support, custody and guardianships as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies - and mediation.
