THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is focused on a variety of aspects of family matters. She focuses a majority of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes property distribution in marital relationships and child custody battles. child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues, step-parent and private party adoptions, as well as concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year 2019. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who would prefer to avoid the litigation and court process.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. Graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, securing a spot among the top 10 students in her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal research and scholarship.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship experience, working for notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014 she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, expanding her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main focus within the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters which involved child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts were instrumental in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at of their caregivers or parents. Her commitment to tackling social injustice transcended her legal career when she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness regarding human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017 she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law – custody, divorce and child maintenance as well as guardianships and financial and estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with a commitment to providing a personalized approach to every client's needs.
